     1. Witches are evil

Because the word 'witches' has all sorts of cultural and mythological
connotations, many of us call ourselves 'Wiccans'. People, Wiccan,
witch or otherwise, are good or evil and do things in the name of
their religion or philosophy. Wicca the religion is not evil because
it teaches the Principle of Return. Wicca believes that what we dish
out will return to us. So our actions and our magick are all done
considering the greater good.

2. Wicca is an ancient religion

Family religion and magic 'witchcraft' in Western Europe is varied and
ancient but Wicca is wholly new having been formulated by Gerald
Gardner starting in the 1930s and later with Doreen Valiente.

3. Wicca isn't a real religion

Canada and the U.S. give Wiccan organizations tax exempt status and
recognize it as an official religion.

4. Wiccans worship the devil

Wicca does not believe Satan to exist. The belief that one person is
entirely evil without good is contrary to the world view of Wicca.

5. Wiccans sacrifice animals

Wicca is a religion of many denominations. I have not seen the
sacrifice of an animal upon a Wiccan altar and if I did, I would join
another Wiccan group. Wicca does not forbid meat eating or hunting.

6. Wiccans have a "dark Bible"

There is no collective bible of Wicca. Each Wiccan has her or his own
bible notebook called "The Book of Shadows".
